FAQ

DTF printing, answered.

Everything people ask before starting a DTF printing business.

A DTF (direct-to-film) printer prints your design onto a special film, which is covered in hot-melt powder, cured, and then heat-pressed onto the garment. Unlike screen printing or DTG (direct-to-garment), DTF gives vibrant, durable prints on almost any fabric and color with minimal setup — so even one-off orders are profitable.
Yes. The OPrintJet bundle includes the printer, curing oven, heat press, ink, film, powder and software, so you can start taking orders for custom shirts, team apparel and DTF transfers from home or a small shop. Results depend on your pricing, marketing and local demand.
For the $4,999 OPrintJet bundle, a bulk job of about 100 transfers can earn roughly $363 profit after materials and labor. That means around 14 such jobs to break even on the equipment, after which the printer is earning profit. Use our income calculator to model your own numbers. These are estimates, not guarantees.
DTF works on cotton, polyester, blends, nylon, denim and dark or light colored materials — t-shirts, hoodies, hats, totes, jerseys and workwear.
DTF prints are very durable. With proper care (gentle wash, inside-out, avoid very high dryer heat) they last through many washes without significant fading, cracking or peeling.
Yes. Klarna may be offered at checkout for the equipment, letting eligible buyers split the purchase into payments, subject to Klarna's approval and availability. For customers launching or expanding a full DTF business, we also offer access to business financing from $50K to $300K for applicants with strong credit (typically 680+), subject to lender approval.
Yes. The printer ships with a step-by-step manual, plus video tutorials and live support via Skype or WhatsApp to help you set up and print your first orders.
Clean the printhead daily, shake the white ink, and wipe the capping station to prevent clogs. Weekly, clean rollers and belts and empty the waste tank. Monthly, inspect ink lines and calibrate. The bundle's automatic white-ink circulation system helps reduce clogging.
DTF uses water-based inks and produces less waste than screen printing, where excess ink and screens are often discarded.
